<p>Your instinct may be to lift off the accelerator, brake hard or simply steer in the direction you want the car to go.</p>



<p>But when a vehicle is oversteering,&nbsp;<strong>your first reaction can make the situation worse</strong>.</p>



<p>Understanding what is happening — and knowing how to respond — is fundamental to vehicle control.</p>



<p>This is&nbsp;<strong>oversteer</strong>.</p>

<p>If the rear moves towards the left, the steering response is generally towards the left.</p>

<p>The system monitors vehicle behaviour and can selectively brake individual wheels and, depending on the system, reduce engine torque to help bring the vehicle back towards the driver&#8217;s intended trajectory.</p>



<p>This can be extremely effective.</p>



<p>But there is an important distinction:</p>



<p><strong>ESC helps manage instability. It does not abolish physics.</strong></p>



<p>If a vehicle enters a corner at excessive speed, the available grip may simply not be sufficient.</p>



<p>The best safety system is therefore still:</p>



<p><strong>Appropriate speed + good anticipation + smooth inputs.</strong></p>
